Inkwell Mornings celebrates the unmistakable spirit of Martha’s Vineyard’s historic Inkwell Beach—a place where Black families have gathered, rested, swam, and built summer traditions for generations.
The scene unfolds during a glowing Vineyard morning as swimmers and waders fill the water, families settle onto colorful blankets, bicycles wait along the beach path, and an early yoga group stretches beside the shore. Victorian cottages frame the coastline while sailboats, the distant ferry, and warm morning light complete the view.
Look closely and there is something happening everywhere: children making their way toward the water, friends catching up along the beach, woven summer bags tucked beside blankets, sandals kicked off in the sand, and generations simply enjoying one another.
